WarSeer's Moderation Policy, Posting Guidelines and Forum Rules

After lengthy deliberations we have decided to introduce a new system for issuing warnings to members who break WarSeer's forum rules.

The current Three Strikes and you're out system will be replaced by a Points based system.

If one of WarSeer's forum rules is breached, a Warning will be issued together with a number of 'Warning Points'. The number of points issued will vary dependent upon which rule has been broken.

The Warnings are not permanent and will expire 365 days after they have been issued.

If a member collects 25 Warning Points, within a 365 day period, they will be banned from WarSeer.

Bans do not expire.

For the few members who have been issued Strikes, each Strike will be considered to be the equivalent of 10 Warning Points. We think it would be unfair for members who have received Strikes to have their record wiped clean because we have adopted a new warning system. This way the previously issued penalty remains in place and it will also influence any future penalty should any be required to be issued - just as it would have been if had we not introduced the new system. For more information about this new system please look at our Moderation Policy [1].

In addition to the Moderation Policy we have taken the opportunity to review and revise both our Posting Guidelines [2] and our Forum Rules [3]. The objectives of the review were to make the distinction between Guidelines and Rules more obvious, to simplify them and to make them easier to understand. We think we have achieved this.

The new system, revised guidelines and rules will take effect from Sunday 3rd February 2008.

If you wish to make any comments about the changes, please do so.
